Assistant Teaching Professor in Korean

The Department of Modern Languages at Florida International University, Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs in Miami, invites applications for a Non-Tenure Track, Assistant Teaching Professor position in Korean, beginning August 2026. The successful candidate will teach Korean language courses in addition to culture courses taught in English or Korean. A full course load for this position is eight courses per year (four per semester) in various modalities. An M.A. in Korean is required as well as native or near-native fluency in Korean and English.

We seek candidates with a strong commitment to teaching.  Candidates should provide evidence of excellence in teaching, with at least four years¿ experience teaching Korean language and culture courses at the university level. Candidates should be well-versed in task-based language teaching, communicative language teaching, and have experience working with adult language learners. We also seek candidates with experience in curriculum development, program articulation, proficiency assessment, placement testing, service learning, or other areas of program development. 

In 2021, the  Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs (The Green School), the college housing the Department of Modern Languages, received full membership in the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA). This prestigious organization includes the top 41 schools of international affairs in the world. The Green School is among only 26 in the U.S. with this designation, 5th in the Southeastern United States, and the 1st and only one in the State of Florida.
