독일 Research Associate (Postdoc) in East Asian Studies at Kiel University 포닥
Offer Description
The Cluster of Excellence ROOTS is offering a position as Research Associate (PostDoc) at the earliest possible start date in East Asian Studies with a focus on Cultural Anthropology, Environmental Studies and Social Sciences.
The position is classified up to salary grade 14 TV-L provided that the tariff-related requirements are met. The regular weekly working hours are 100% of a full-time position (currently 38.7 hours).
Scientific environment
The Cluster of Excellence ROOTS (Social, Environmental, and Cultural Connectivity in Past Societies) at Kiel University explores the deep history of tightly intertwined social and environmental processes, in order to explain their long-term developments and to understand how they resonate into the present (https://www.uni-kiel.de/en/cluster-roots). ROOTS combines expertise from a wide array of disciplines ranging from archaeology to other natural sciences, life sciences, and humanities, creating a unique bridge between different scientific cultures. The ROOTS experts are organized into six subclusters (Hazards, Dietary, Knowledge, Urban, Inequalities, Conflict), three supportive research platforms (Technical Platform, Data Management and Data Science Platform, Outreach and Dissemination Platform), as well as diverse central units (ROOTS Academy, Reflective Turn Forum, Methods Nucleus) to collectively pursue a research agenda targeting key parameters of socio-environmental connectivity related to (1) human subsistence and biodiversity; (2) inequality and conflict; (3) technology and environmental impact; (4) boundaries and well-being.
You will find an excellent working environment at the ROOTS Cluster of Excellence, the Faculty of Philosophy, with the China Center or its successor institution, with links to the PMI Cluster of Excellence, the Research Focus Societal, Environmental, and Cultural Change (SECC), the Center for Asian and African Studies (ZAAS), the Digital Science Center (DSC), and the Institute for World Economics (IfW).
There are various interfaces with all eight faculties of Kiel University, including within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (Prehistory and Early History, Non-European History; philosophy and ethics of the environment; practical philosophy; linguistics and phonetics; ethnology and cultural research), the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences (international management and international business with a focus on China; innovation research; service
analytics), the Faculty of Engineering (database systems and data mining) and the Faculty of Theology (religious studies).
Responsibilities
The position to be filled will be a full-time research position at the ROOTS Cluster of Excellence for the duration of the cluster's term, focusing on research topics related to Chinese and Asian studies. After the end of the ROOTS Cluster of Excellence, the position will be converted into a corresponding permanent position with responsibilities in research and teaching in Chinese and Asian studies. In addition to intensive collaboration with the Cluster of Excellence Social, Environmental, and Cultural Connectivity in Past Societies (ROOTS), the position will also involve research, teaching, and administrative tasks at the China Center (or its successor institution). Thus, from the outset, teaching will also be part of the job description to a very limited extent.
