<p>Applications are invited for appointment as <strong>Lecturer in </strong><strong>Korean Studies </strong><strong>in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures </strong>(Ref: 536274), to commence on August 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.</p>
<p>Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in Korean Studies or a related field, with at least six years of full-time teaching experience at the tertiary level. Past teaching should include an introductory Korean civilization course covering premodern to contemporary periods, intermediate-level seminars, and final-year research projects in Korean Studies, taught in English. Preference will be given to applicants demonstrating an excellent teaching record in seminar topics such as cinema and visual studies, popular culture, and gender and sexuality. Willingness to contribute to the Master of Arts in the field of East Asian Studies (MAEAS) is also preferred. <p>The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University of Delaware in Newark, DE, seeks a dynamic and innovative instructor to teach one or two in-person Korean language courses at any level in Fall 2026. This is an adjunct position, renewable on a semester basis. </p>
<p><b>Qualifications and Responsibilities  </b></p>
<p>The successful candidate will have a minimum of a Master's Degree in Korean Language, Literature, Linguistics, or Second Language Acquisition and Teaching, or in a related field, and should have native or near-native fluency in both Korean and English. Experience teaching college-level Korean in the US is highly desired. </p>
<p>The core responsibilities of this position include teaching Korean-language classes as needed by the Department and contributing to the development of the Korean Program. Candidates should be: </p>
<ul>
<li>committed to high-quality instruction in a collaborative, communicative-based learning environment;  </li>
<li>able to work with students from diverse backgrounds and with diverse learning styles;</li>
<li>willing to collaborate with colleagues to advance student outcomes; and  </li>
<li>experienced with using technology to foster student learning.  </li>
</ul>
<p>The instructor is also expected to hold one hour of student office hours per course per week. </p>
<p><b>Compensation  </b></p>

And in some instances, syllabi, assignments and reading material will be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.<br /><br /><strong>APPOINTMENT AND SALARY </strong>All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association.
