The International Institute of Korean Studies (IKSU) at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is offering 3 partial PhD scholarships in research on Korea. We seek highly motivated individuals who have excellent academic grades at Masters’ level and who are committed to original and high-quality research. Applications are open to students of any nationality, but the scholarship covers the value of UK tuition fee for the first year of PhD programme (£4,600), plus stipend (£2,500) in 2022/23 academic year. Non-UK fee paying students will receive a partial fee waiver to the value of UK tuition fees and the stipend. The duration of the scholarship is 1 year (start date: 9th January 2023). - Research on Korea, including comparative study, in anthropology, looking at areas of religion/belief systems including shamanism, kinship networks, human/animal relations, and/or human/nature relations (academic supervisor: Professor Niki Alsford);
- Research on North Korea, including comparative study, in development studies, looking at areas of primary health care systems, with special focus on nursing (academic supervisor: Dr. Sojin Lim); or
- Research on North Korea, including comparative study, in development studies, looking at areas of international aid for capacity development (academic supervisor: Dr Soji Lim).
