Moon Family Postdoctoral Fellowship, 2025-26 University of Pennsylvania: School of Arts and Sciences: School of Arts and Sciences Centers and Institutes: Kim Center for Korean Studies LocationPhiladelphia, PA Open Date Nov 15, 2024 Description The James Joo-Jin Kim Center for Korean Studies at the University of Pennsylvania announces a Moon Family Postdoctoral Fellowship for the 2025–26 academic year. The postdoctoral fellowship is open to scholars from any discipline with a research and teaching focus on Korea. The fellowship will cover the 12-month period between August 1, 2025 and July 31, 2026 and provide a stipend of $67,000 as well as conference travel funds up to $2,000. The postdoctoral fellow will also receive a shared office space and access to libraries and other resources at Penn. The fellowship may be renewed for a second year, based on satisfactory performance, the existence of funding, and programmatic need. The Korean Department of the University of Tübingen seeks to fill a Ph.D. position that will start on April 14, 2025. The successful candidate will start a Ph.D. degree under the supervision of Junior Professor Yewon Lee. Dr. Lee is looking for a candidate with a Master’s degree in a field that qualifies for research and teaching in Korean studies. (Those who are trained in sociology, anthropology, geography, and political science are encouraged to apply.) Proficiency in qualitative methods in social science research—e.g., ethnographic, in-depth interview, and historical analysis—and experience in empirical research on Korea is required.
