Contract: Fixed Term, Full-Time (35 Hours per Week).
Contract Duration: 03/01/2025 – 31/05/2027
Salary/Grade: UE07 – £39,347 – £46,974 per annum
The School of Literatures, Languages & Cultures are looking for an Early Career Teaching & Research Fellow in Korean Studies to join our Asian Studies department.
The Opportunity:
As part of the Scottish Centre for Korean Studies, this fixed term full-time appointment would be ideal for a recent PhD graduate or early career researcher within four years of the award of your PhD, to support new fields of research on contemporary Korea and contribute to the curriculum in Korean Studies.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching during semester time and will be given the opportunity to focus on developing their research during non-teaching weeks. We are particularly interested in candidates whose work is interdisciplinary, with qualifications and training in the social sciences and connects Korea to broader East Asian and global issues.

Your skills and attributes for success:
- PhD in-hand in a relevant discipline at the time of application (politics, international relations, sociology, media and communications, social anthropology) awarded not earlier than four years from the date of advertisement of this post
- Fluency in English and Korean languages
- Commitment to high quality teaching and learning
- Experience of and the ability to design and deliver course materials
- Experience of teaching and assessment of student performance at undergraduate/ postgraduate level
