Fluyo

🐬 Fluyo is a language learning startup looking for a legendary Course Creator for Korean to develop a groundbreaking course that teaches English speakers Korean. In this role, you will develop a fun, interactive and engaging audio-course consisting of roughly (100) five-minute lessons that will revolutionize the experience of learning Korean both from scratch and at an advanced level! In addition to this, you will be responsible for teaching the Korean alphabet as well as selecting, organizing and leveraging AI to curate example sentences for our top 3000 Korean words!

Our company:

Our mission at Fluyo is to make the world speak another language by making language learning fun. We combine the most effective language education with all the fun of a video game.

Fluyo (www.fluyoapp.com) is an all-in-one language learning app designed to be the most fun and effective way to learn a language ever created. Last month, after 3 years of building Fluyo in stealth mode, we launched on Kickstarter and became the most funded app in Kickstarter history – raising over $1.2M.

At Fluyo we are dedicated to bringing forth a new kind of language learning app. There are “gamified” language learning apps out there. However, Fluyo is truly a game to learn languages in addition to being many other things. Our app is created directly by passionate polyglots and language learners for other language learners. Our ultimate goal is to blend pure fun with learning effectiveness in a way that’s never been done before.

💰 Funded on Kickstarter (highest funded app in Kickstarter history!)

🚀 Make a real difference (we are publicly launching soon, it’s an exciting time to join + your work will directly impact thousands of learners)

The Role:

We’re looking for someone with substantial experience in language learning and teaching Korean. We are particularly interested in someone who can empathize with students and understand the challenges they commonly encounter when starting to learn a new language. In addition to this, we’re looking for someone who demonstrates great creativity to implement innovative approaches to language instruction.

We require someone who will play a lead role in the development and creation of an innovative, groundbreaking audio course that focuses on breaking down the structure and grammar of Korean in an incredibly easy to understand/fun manner.

💰 Salary: $4k USD per month

Duration: ~3 months contract (potential for ongoing work)

The Course Explained:

Picture this, a course made out of 100, five-minute bite-sized lessons that takes a learner from not knowing any grammar to being able to form just about any sentence they’d like. The lessons are fun, fast paced, interactive and most importantly they effortlessly break down grammar and sentence structure in an extremely easy to understand/remember way. Grammar terminology, for the most part, is NOTused. Instead, learners are shown how concepts are expressed in English and then shown how to express the same ones in Korean. The course will relate a lot of what is taught in Korean to how people express themselves in English; in lieu of stating explicit grammar rules/terms. Add the word “Goldshire” to your application so we know you read the whole job post.

Essential Requirements/Skills:

  • Considerable familiarity with audio language courses such as Pimsleur or Language Transfer.
  • Considerable experience as a Korean teacher, instructor, coach, or the like.
  • Extremely passionate about languages. You love learning languages and you’re familiar with the most popular language learning apps.
  • Remarkable intuition and ability to empathize with learners and understand their needs, worries, difficulties, etc.
  • Openness to implementing innovative tools and learning methods.
  • Fluent in English (There are people from many different countries and linguistic backgrounds in our team, but at work we all speak English).
