Assistant Professor of Second Language Acquisition
Description
The Graduate Program in Second Language Acquisition at Carnegie Mellon University, Department of Modern Languages, is inviting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Second Language Acquisition, beginning in Fall 2024. Areas of specialization in need include quantitative methods, corpus or computational linguistics, L2 literacy development, and cognitive aspects of language learning. A PhD in Second Language Acquisition, Applied Linguistics, Linguistics, Psychology or related field is required. ABD will be considered. Of particular interest are candidates whose research focuses on one or more of the linguistic and cultural worlds of speakers of Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, or Spanish. Research on English as a second/foreign language speech and writing is also of interest. Our faculty are known for interdisciplinary collaborations and innovation. The ideal candidate can bridge language learning with other disciplines in the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Science, and connect with the Askwith Kenner Global Languages and Cultures Room. The successful candidate is expected to initiate and lead research, supervise PhD students, teach in the PhD and MA programs, as well as the undergraduate Applied Multilingual Studies BA program, and a language studies program, if applicable. Teaching load is 2 2.

Qualifications
PhD in Second Language Acquisition, Applied Linguistics, Linguistics, Psychology or related field. ABD considered.
