About Us

We are a premier and accredited Online Language School dedicated to providing high-quality education. We are currently seeking enthusiastic Korean Language Instructors to teach engaging online courses for high school and middle school students. Our students, aged 12 to 18, enroll in Korean courses to fulfill their high school World Language requirement. We offer a comprehensive curriculum, spanning Middle School and High School Levels 1-6+, including conversational and test/prep courses. Our Approach: Our teaching approach is aligned with the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. We focus on Can-Do Statements and real-world communication contexts to guide our lessons. Our instructors have the creative freedom to design their own teaching materials, following a textbook-free curriculum. We embrace Project-Based Learning and assess students’ progress through interactive assignments, rather than traditional quizzes or exams. Who We’re Looking For: If you are a creative, student-centered instructor with experience in online teaching and a passion for teaching Korean as a World Language, you’ll find a welcoming home with us. Responsibilities: Your responsibilities will include: Conducting one-on-one online lessons using Microsoft Teams. Assigning and reviewing homework assignments and projects. Tracking student grades and progress. Fostering student engagement and success. Demonstrating genuine respect for all students. Requirements: To be successful in this role, you should have: 1-2+ years of experience teaching Korean, whether online or in a school setting. Native-like language proficiency in Korean. A Bachelor’s Degree. Familiarity with technology, including Microsoft Office. Strong work ethic and interpersonal skills. Preference will be given to applicants with curriculum development experience and an interest in contributing to curriculum expansion and improvement. Assistant or Associate Professor of Teaching in Korean Language (Director of the Korean Language Program)

The Department of Asian Studies at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, invites applications for a tenure-track position in the field of Korean applied linguistics to serve as Director of the Korean Language Program, with the possibility of appointment at the Assistant Professor of Teaching or Associate Professor of Teaching rank., commencing July 1, 2024.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for teaching courses in Korean language, developing curriculum in Korean language and culture, and directing a large and growing Korean language program. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching in and coordinating a Korean language program at the post-secondary level in North America.

Requirements include: advanced proficiency in Korean; a Ph.D. in either Korean Language and Linguistics, Korean Applied Linguistics, Korean language pedagogy, or a closely related field; exceptional organizational and leadership skills; evidence of substantial experience and excellent teaching ability in Korean for both heritage and non-heritage learners at the post-secondary level in North America; experience preparing teaching materials independently or collaboratively; and a strong track record of full participation in team work and program affairs. Individuals with experience in community outreach, program coordination and design, and teaching innovative Content-Based Instruction (CBI) curriculum for advanced learners of Korean are particularly encouraged to apply.

We seek an exceptional teacher with a track record of employing innovative pedagogies, such as community-based learning, flexible and/or online learning. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an excellent record of teaching, service, and educational leadership.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in a relevant field or expect to have successfully defended the dissertation before July 1, 2024. The normal teaching load of an Assistant or Associate Professor of Teaching is six 3-credit courses over the academic year. Courses will range from first- to fourth-year undergraduate courses and the bulk of the annual teaching load will be courses in Korean Language for both heritage and non-heritage learners. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with other tenure-stream Asian Studies faculty in Korean Studies. This is a tenure-track position in the Educational Leadership stream. A successful candidate hired at the Assistant Professor rank will be reviewed for reappointment, tenure, and promotion in subsequent years, in accordance with the Collective Agreement. The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications from nationally prominent scholars to fill the A. W. Mellon Endowed Chair at the tenured Associate Professor or Professor level in Korean Stud ie s, with the appointment to begin in the 2024-2025 academic year, pending budgetary approval. In filling this chair, the Department seeks candidates with extraordinary credentials in research, teaching, and program development .

We welcome candidates from any subfield and are particularly interested in scholars who will contribute to expanding our research and teaching in Korean Studies . The new colleague will be instrumental in building our new Korean major within the context of our established strengths in East Asian Literature, Performing Arts, and Film and Media Studies . We are looking for a dynamic colleague with expertise in one or more of the following areas: traditional Korean literature and performing arts and their significance in contemporary culture; Korean culture in East Asian contexts; gender and sexuality studies in traditional through contemporary Korean humanities; Korean music and global culture; Korean identities and diasporic communities; pop culture and intercultural communication; and visual studies, particularly in connection to traditional arts or new media. The successful candidate will d evelop long-term cross-disciplinary research and teaching initiatives with colleagues at the University and other institutions and will have native or near-native ability i n Korean and English in all skill areas.

The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures benefits from strong collaboration with other campus units, including our Asian Studies Center (a US Department of Education Title VI National Resource Center in East Asian Studies), our East Asian Library, the Humanities Center, and other academic departments including History, Anthropology, History of Art and Architecture, Theatre, Music, and Religious Studies . Internal grants and other support for research, conferen ces, and other projects are available through the School of Arts and Sciences, the Asian Studies Center, and other campus units . We expect the successful candidate to actively leverage these resources as they help develop one or more of the following programmatic agendas:

• Build degree program s in Asian American and/or diasporic Asian studies based in East Asian Languages and Literatures in collaboration with colleagues in Hispanic, English, History, Sociology, Anthropology, and other units.
• Build cross-disciplinary credentialing in one or more of the following: Asian media studies; global popular culture; Asian performing arts; literatures of diasporas; and genders in global/historical perspectives.

The successful candidate will also work with colleagues in East Asian Languages and Literatures and other units to create innovative, collaborative projects that engage both the university and local communities . They will take a leadership role in East Asian Languages and Literatures undergraduate and interdisciplinary MA programs.
