We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s diverse student body as a Part Time Lecturer of Language in the Writing and Language Studies Department beginning in the 2023-2024 academic year. The Department of Writing & Language Studies at UTRGV has a core mission—engagement. Minimum Qualifications
The qualifications to be considered as a Part Time Lecturer are a master’s degree from an accredited institution in the relevant language or language-related discipline with at least 18 graduate hours in .
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
For Spanish Translation & Interpreting, a Master’s Degree in Translation and/or Interpreting with Spanish and English as the language combination is required. Native or near-native command of English and Spanish is also required.
Preferred Qualification
(1) Prior language/translation teaching experience at the post-secondary level; (2) the ability to teach in a variety of classrooms including face to face, hybrid, and online synchronous or asynchronous; and (3) graduate coursework in language pedagogy

Additional Information
UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

The University of Southern Maine’s Department of Linguistics seeks applicants for part-time instructor positions to teach 100- to 300-level spoken languages courses for our Fall 2023 Semester. The languages we offer regularly are: American Sign Language, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Latin, Spanish, and Wabanaki languages. We occasionally offer other languages and are especially interested in a course in Korean.

The Department of Linguistics is an undergraduate program within the College of Science, Technology and Health. Linguistics students can major in general linguistics or in a number of concentrations. We also offer several minors.

Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior college teaching experience. Key Responsibilities

  • Have a strong knowledge of the Cambridge International IGCSE syllabus and be able to confidently deliver the IGCSE programme.
  • A proven track record will be recognised and incentives will be meted accordingly.
  • The duties will include creating interesting, motivating and differentiated lesson plans, preparing and delivering lessons, playing an active and positive pastoral role, creating and supervising activities for students, evaluating student performance, maintaining classroom records, meeting with parents, teachers and other professionals and participating in general school events.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
  • Ability to communicate in a second language (i.e. Mandarin, Japanese, Korean etc.) would be an added advantage.

  • Demonstrate international mindedness in all areas of work and display respect for diverse cultures, languages and traditions.
  • Advise and co-operate with the Principal, Head of Secondary, Heads of Department, Ministry’s Education Officers, and other teachers in the preparation and development of courses of study, teaching materials, teaching programmes, methods of teaching and assessment and pastoral care arrangements.
  • Participate in In-Service education and training courses as well as in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities, and taking part in action research exercises.
  • Maintain good order and discipline amongst students under one’s care and safeguarding their health and safety at all times.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Candidate must possess at least Bachelor’s Degree/Post Graduate Diploma/Professional Degree

2. Date of Appointment: April 1, 2024

3. Duration of Appointment: Successful candidates will be appointed for 1 year.
(If both the University and the candidate agree, the employment contract may be renewed up to 4 times).

4. Employment Conditions:
In accordance with the regulations of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University; the employment package includes bonus and transportation allowance.

6. Expectations of Candidates:
(1) Candidates must agree with the fundamental principles and goals of APU, and they must be passionate about education at APU.
(2) Proficiency in either Japanese or English is preferable.

7. Minimum Academic Qualifications:
(1) A Master’s degree or above, or achievements/experiences recognized as equivalent to a Master’s degree.
(2) Applicants should meet one or more of the below qualifications:
・More than one year of teaching experience in higher education
・Expert knowledge or outstanding experience in their field.

Due to our recent success in winning a Korean Studies Promotion Service Core Grant to establish a Centre for Korean Studies at the University of Sheffield, we are seeking to appoint a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Korean Studies to join the existing Korean Studies team. Successful candidates will enhance and expand our excellent research by conducting research in their area of expertise, aiming towards publication of peer-reviewed outputs. They will also actively assist with planning and organising the activities of the Centre for Korean Studies. We welcome applications from scholars in any discipline within the broadly defined field of Korean Studies.
The Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will conduct research in their area of expertise with a view to submitting work for peer-reviewed publication within two years of commencing the position as part of our commitment to the Korean Studies Promotion Service Core Grant Programme The School of East Asian Studies is bound together by a passionate belief in the importance of East Asia as the most dynamic region in the world. We seek to communicate and disseminate our expertise and knowledge of this region across the
