Job Description
The East Asian Languages and Cultures Program in the department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for a full-time position at the rank of Lecturer in Korean language starting fall 2023.
The successful candidate will teach three (3) courses per semester. In addition to these teaching duties, administrative duties include proctoring Korean placement tests and proficiency tests, supervising graduate TAs and undergraduate language tutors, and actively participating in program events and other duties based on program needs.
The successful applicant should be well versed on the issues of Korean language education and have demonstrated a successful Korean language teaching experience in a U.S. university or college. In addition, the person should be willing to cooperate and collaborate as a team.
This is a full-time (9-month) non-tenure track position beginning September 1, 2023 for an initial one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Requirements
Candidates must have a MA in Korean language and linguistics, second language acquisition, foreign language education, applied linguistics, or related field; native or near-native proficiency in Korean and English; with experience in teaching Korean at the college level in the U.S. Applicants must be qualified to teach Korean at all levels.
Preferred qualifications: PhD or EdD preferred in the fields mentioned above.

Finalist should be prepared to supply the following materials if needed:
- Teaching video (maximum 15 minutes).
- Teaching Evaluations.
