Job Summary:

New Delhi Institute of Management (NDIM) is looking for a full-time Korean Language trainer for its Institute to train the students in Korean language and culture.

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have cleared at least either of these TOPIK Level 5 or at least Level 4, or a minimum of a Postgraduate degree from a reputed University.
  • Candidate should possess a Certificate of passing his/her TOPIK level
  • Candidate must hold at least 3 years of proven work experience with a reputed organization as Korean Language Trainer
  • Candidate will work as Korean Language Trainer, Korean Language Translator & Korean Language Interpreter
  • Candidate should be able to design suitable program for MBA students & other projects of NDIM
  • Candidate should be able to counsel students about the scope of Korean Language
  • Candidate should be able to promote Korean Language to our candidates/students
  • Candidate should become the brand ambassador and promoter of Korean culture in our institute and should continuously give suggestions to implement the work ethics of Korea
  • Candidate will coordinate continuously with Korean Companies/organisations on behalf of NDIM

The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications from nationally prominent scholars to fill the A. W. Mellon Endowed Chair at the tenured Associate Professor or Professor level in Korean Stud ie s, with the appointment to begin in the 2024-2025 academic year, pending budgetary approval. In filling this chair, the Department seeks candidates with extraordinary credentials in research, teaching, and program development .

We welcome candidates from any subfield and are particularly interested in scholars who will contribute to expanding our research and teaching in Korean Studies . The new colleague will be instrumental in building our new Korean major within the context of our established strengths in East Asian Literature, Performing Arts, and Film and Media Studies . We are looking for a dynamic colleague with expertise in one or more of the following areas: traditional Korean literature and performing arts and their significance in contemporary culture; Korean culture in East Asian contexts; gender and sexuality studies in traditional through contemporary Korean humanities; Korean music and global culture; Korean identities and diasporic communities; pop culture and intercultural communication; and visual studies, particularly in connection to traditional arts or new media. The successful candidate will d evelop long-term cross-disciplinary research and teaching initiatives with colleagues at the University and other institutions and will have native or near-native ability i n Korean and English in all skill areas.

The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures benefits from strong collaboration with other campus units, including our Asian Studies Center (a US Department of Education Title VI National Resource Center in East Asian Studies), our East Asian Library, the Humanities Center, and other academic departments including History, Anthropology, History of Art and Architecture, Theatre, Music, and Religious Studies . Internal grants and other support for research, conferen ces, and other projects are available through the School of Arts and Sciences, the Asian Studies Center, and other campus units . We expect the successful candidate to actively leverage these resources as they help develop one or more of the following programmatic agendas:

  • Build degree program s in Asian American and/or diasporic Asian studies based in East Asian Languages and Literatures in collaboration with colleagues in Hispanic, English, History, Sociology, Anthropology, and other units.
  • Build cross-disciplinary credentialing in one or more of the following: Asian media studies; global popular culture; Asian performing arts; literatures of diasporas; and genders in global/historical perspectives.

The successful candidate will also work with colleagues in East Asian Languages and Literatures and other units to create innovative, collaborative projects that engage both the university and local communities . They will take a leadership role in East Asian Languages and Literatures undergraduate and interdisciplinary MA programs. Applications should include 1. a letter of application describing research and teaching interests, including experience with creating welcoming classroom environments for a diverse student body; 2. a current curriculum vitae; 3. A document with names and contact information for three professional references ; 4. a scholarly writing sample and list of publications; 5. a teaching statement highlighting innovative classroom assignments.

Minimum qualifications: applicants must have a Ph.D. in Korean language and literature or a related field, at least 6 years of experience, a significant publication record, and demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality instruction, contribute to an inclusive climate, and attract and retain a diverse study body.

The Opportunity

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures in the College of Arts and Humanities (CAH) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a 9-month, non-tenure earning visiting instructor or lecturer position in Korean. The visiting appointment may be renewable for up to four years and is anticipated to begin August 2024.

The successful candidate will teach primarily lower-level language classes in Korean. Assignments will consist of eight classes per year. The selected candidate will also be expected to contribute to the growth of the program.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

A master’s degree (for an instructor) or terminal degree (for a lecturer) in Korean or related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. Native or near-native fluency in Korean and a high level of English proficiency is required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with at least two years of experience teaching beginner and intermediate language classes at the university or college level, and experience using a range of teaching modalities (i.e., online, mixed-mode, and face-to-face courses).  Preference will also be given to candidates who are qualified to teach a second language.

Job Summary

The Teaching Assistant’s primary responsibility would be to teach Korean language courses at the beginning through intermediate levels. They would teach 1 or 2 courses per quarter, depending on the demand. Additionally, the TA would assist the language lead with planning co-curricular events for the Korean language students. This could include conversation hours, participating in a language club or language table, and organizing other relevant events.

Essential Functions

  • Teach required number of credit hours per semester based on their contract
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills related to teaching methodology, curriculum development and evaluation.
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum as needed.
  • Evaluate student achievement of curricular objectives/outcomes.
  • Schedule office hours for student consultation, or at least be available by appointment.
  • Maintain communication with the language lead and/or department head regarding any course or student issues.
  • Perform other similar duties as assigned.

Job Description Summary

The Department of World Languages, Literatures & Cultures at Auburn University invites applications for a tenure-track position, Assistant Professor in Korean, starting Fall Semester 2024. This position has a 3-2 teaching load and will include instruction of undergraduate Korean language and culture.

Applicants must provide evidence of teaching excellence at the college level and of potential for successful research and scholarly/professional activities. A deep awareness of effective language pedagogies and innovative course curricula, is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to strengthen the Korean program and to participate in extra-curricular activities in coordination with the Korea Center-King Sejong Institute (such as Chuseok, Korea Fest and the K-Pop Party) to help promote enrollment and participation in the Korean program.

Minimum Qualifications

Required qualifications: the successful candidate for this position must be a generalist with a PhD in Korean or related field such as Comparative Literature (specialization open, e.g., Literature, Linguistics, or Film Studies) at the time employment begins and have native or near-native fluency in Korean and English.

Desired Qualifications

Teaching experience at the college level in the US, positive teaching evaluations, and familiarity with current language pedagogy.

Applicants will be required to submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, graduate transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable), sample teaching evaluations, sample syllabi, a one-page statement of teaching philosophy, and names and email addresses of three references (at least one of whom can address candidate’s teaching effectiveness). Review of applications will begin October 15, 2023 and will continue until the position is filled.
The candidate selected for this position must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time of the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively in English and Korean.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Korean Language Tutor to join our thriving Languages school where you’ll have the opportunity to work with adult learners inspiring their passion for language learning.  If you have experience of teaching Korean to adults and have availability to teach our Korean Beginners course starting in October 2023 we would love to hear from you.

​The Department of Asian Languages and Civilizations at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Korean Literature and Culture to begin August 2024. Candidates must have a PhD in Korean literature or a related field. ABD candidates will be considered. However, if the PhD degree is not conferred by August 19, 2024, the candidate will be appointed initially as an Instructor. Job duties include teaching courses to undergraduate students in Korean literature and culture, as well as service to the university. ​​

Who We Are

T​he Department of Asian Languages and Civilizations (ALC), founded in 1982, offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Chinese and Japanese, five minor programs, as well as language, literature and culture courses in Arabic, Chinese, Hindi/Urdu, Japanese and Korean. ALC brings global diversity to the curriculum and the Boulder campus of CU. Our department’s focus on a broad swath of the non-Western world puts us in a position to share worldviews and traditions of literature, culture, thought, and artistic expression developed by civilizations in pre-modern, modern, and contemporary South Asia, East Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East. Majors and minors receive a thorough grounding in their choice of language and develop familiarity with the literary and cultural histories of their selected area. Recent graduates have found positions in such fields as government service, international business and secondary-school teaching; others have gone on to graduate study in Chinese or Japanese.​

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Job duties include teaching courses to undergraduate students in Korean literature and culture, as well as service to the university.​​


What You Should Know

  • Teaching load is normally four courses per year (2 and 2). The successful candidate will maintain an active research agenda as a part of their normal academic duties.
  • As part of the University of Colorado Boulder’s deep commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, the campus has implemented a reference check pilot program with respect to final candidates for tenured faculty appointments. The reference check pilot program is intended to allow CU Boulder to collect and review information about a candidate’s conduct at their previous institutions, specifically conduct related to sexual misconduct, harassment, and/or discrimination – before making hiring decisions. What We Can Offer

The salary range for this position is $80,000 – $82,000 annually; relocation assistance may also be available.
