About the School of Foreign Studies, Nanjing University

The School of Foreign Studies of Nanjing University (SFS)  traces its history back to a three-year English program initiated in 1917. Building on its academic heritage, it has distinguished itself in teaching, academic research and cooperation with overseas institutions. Consisting of seven language departments, i.e., English, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Japanese and Korean, the School offers a full range of degree programs as well as postdoctoral programs in foreign languages and literatures. SFS boasts faculty of extraordinary excellence, among whom 80 % are doctorate holders and 60 % professors and associate professors. Currently the School sees a total enrollment of nearly 700 undergraduates and over 600 MA and PhD students. Having established partnerships with dozens of world-renowned universities in the United Kingdom, the United States, Russia, Germany, France, Belgium, Spain, Japan, South Korea and elsewhere, SFS takes pride in hosting and participating in a variety of international projects which helps spread the school’s influence worldwide.

Positions

1)     Two vacancies of full-time English language teaching;

2)     One vacancy of full-time German language teaching;

3)     One vacancy of full-time Korean language teaching.

Requirements:

1)   Applicants should observe Chinese laws and regulations, and demonstrate a passion for teaching and research.

2)   Applicants should maintain a high standard of academic and work ethics without any punishment record for violating teaching and academic ethics. Proofs of police clearance are required.

3)   Applicants must be native speakers of English/German/Korean with a master’s degree or above in literature, linguistics, or other specialties related to humanities or social sciences. Preference will be given to those whose research experience connects with the major areas of academic interest in English/German/Korean language and culture, English/German/Korean literature, and English/German/Korean studies.

4)   Applicants should have a good command of pedagogic skills and a flair for oral communication, and are capable of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses with competence.

5)   Applicants should have at least two years of teaching experience in college or language schools either in China or abroad with proven excellent pedagogical skills. Special consideration will be given to holders of assistant, associate and full professorship in overseas universities.

6)  In general, applicants should be under 55 years of age at the time of application (born after January 1st, 1968). However, the age limit will be subject to adjustment for exceptionally excellent applicants.

Salary and Benefits

1)   The annual salary offered to a full-time language teacher is about 130,000-200,000 yuan/year (variable depending on prior teaching experience).

2) Benefit package includes monthly rental subsidy and international travel allowance, ranging from 35, 000-50, 000 yuan/year in total (variable depending on the applicants’ origins of country).

3) University-run apartments near campus are available for rent. Fixed level of rental is guaranteed within the term of contract.

4)  Social insurance will be provided in accordance with laws and regulations in China. The university will also pay for the housing fund upon agreement with the applicant.

We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s diverse student body as a Part Time Lecturer of Language in the Writing and Language Studies Department beginning in the 2023-2024 academic year. Minimum Qualifications
The qualifications to be considered as a Part Time Lecturer are a master’s degree from an accredited institution in the relevant language or language-related discipline with at least 18 graduate hours in .
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
For Spanish Translation & Interpreting, a Master’s Degree in Translation and/or Interpreting with Spanish and English as the language combination is required. Native or near-native command of English and Spanish is also required.
Preferred Qualification
(1) Prior language/translation teaching experience at the post-secondary level; (2) the ability to teach in a variety of classrooms including face to face, hybrid, and online synchronous or asynchronous; and (3) graduate coursework in language pedagogy

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. The University of Southern Maine’s Department of Linguistics seeks applicants for part-time instructor positions to teach 100- to 300-level spoken languages courses for our Fall 2023 Semester. The languages we offer regularly are: American Sign Language, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Latin, Spanish, and Wabanaki languages. We occasionally offer other languages and are especially interested in a course in Korean.

The Department of Linguistics is an undergraduate program within the College of Science, Technology and Health. Linguistics students can major in general linguistics or in a number of concentrations. We also offer several minors.

Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior college teaching experience. Responsibilities:

· To deliver Korean language classes according to our materials and syllabus.

· Maintain Korean language teaching of the highest quality.

· To provide both Private and Group Teaching at the client’s place or in the school

· To provide professional learning advice to both adults and kids students

Requirements:

· Lessons will be either at our School or the client’s place in Singapore or Online via Zoom teaching.

· Applicants who had completed TOPIK 5 are welcome to apply

Job Description

Secondary IGCSE Teachers

Subjects Required:

IGCSE ICT/COMPUTER SCIENCE

IGCSE Mathematics

IGCSE English ESL/EAL

IGCSE PE

IGCSE Music

IGCSE Mandarin Second Language

IGCSE Drama

IGCSE Modern Foreign Languages (i.e. Japanese, Korean)

STEAM/STEM Coordinator

Key Responsibilities

  • Have a strong knowledge of the Cambridge International IGCSE syllabus and be able to confidently deliver the IGCSE programme.
  • A proven track record will be recognised and incentives will be meted accordingly.
  • The duties will include creating interesting, motivating and differentiated lesson plans, preparing and delivering lessons, playing an active and positive pastoral role, creating and supervising activities for students, evaluating student performance, maintaining classroom records, meeting with parents, teachers and other professionals and participating in general school events.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
  • Ability to communicate in a second language (i.e. Mandarin, Japanese, Korean etc.) would be an added advantage.
  • Teach, assess and educate students in accordance to the Cambridge Teacher’s Standard by ensuring high levels of professional practice and quality of teaching and learning (T&L) of the subject is meticulously carried out throughout one’s charge, whilst nurturing a culture where teachers view themselves essentially as facilitators of learning and reflective practitioners.
  • Be an excellent team player, working co-cooperatively with other departments.
  • Have a pleasant disposition and high standard of community spirit.
  • Undertake any additional duties and responsibilities, attend school functions and participate in school meetings as may be required by the Principal and/or Upper Management.
  • Demonstrate international mindedness in all areas of work and display respect for diverse cultures, languages and traditions.
  • Advise and co-operate with the Principal, Head of Secondary, Heads of Department, Ministry’s Education Officers, and other teachers in the preparation and development of courses of study, teaching materials, teaching programmes, methods of teaching and assessment and pastoral care arrangements.
  • Participate in In-Service education and training courses as well as in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities, and taking part in action research exercises.
  • Maintain good order and discipline amongst students under one’s care and safeguarding their health and safety at all times.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Candidate must possess at least Bachelor’s Degree/Post Graduate Diploma/Professional Degree
  • Required language(s): English.
  • At least 8 Years of teaching experience, in the related subject applied for, at IGCSE Secondary level (Years 7 to 11).

Required Qualification: 

  • Candidate must show enthusiasm for learning and the ability to inspire the same enthusiasm in secondary school students.
  • Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent
  • Candidate must possess at least Bachelor’s Degree/Post Graduate Diploma/Professional Degree
