Intermediate District 287 is looking for a qualified Korean Instructor for a part-time position with Northern Star Online (NSO)!

 

Northern Star Online (NSO) is a collaborative of 15 independent school districts and four educational service agencies. Our goal is to educate secondary students to be lifelong learners by providing high-quality online courses and learning experiences that permit the learner to renew, accelerate, and/or personalize their learning at any time and in any place.

 

In this role you will:

  • Provide online instruction
  • Develop and implement curriculum and lesson plans
  • Utilize technology to excite students and meet their needs
  • Understand the needs of a diverse student population with varying learning styles
  • Build connections and engage with students and families online

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Current teaching license in Korean issued by PELSB or licensed another subject area and willing and eligible to get an Out-of-Field Permission
  • Experience with digital curriculum and online teaching preferred
  • Interested in candidates who are diverse, bilingual, or have experience working with diverse populations

月給:315,000円(修士号取得者)

上記以外に本学院の規定に基づき、家族手当、住宅手当、通勤手当等を支給します。

The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures in the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California, invites applications for a full-time teaching-track faculty position in the Korean language beginning in the fall of 2023.

Applicants must have an M.A. or Ph.D. in language pedagogy, second language acquisition, linguistics, or related fields, and possess native or near-native fluency in both Korean and English. Evidence of dynamic and effective language teaching is essential. Leadership and curriculum development experience are welcome. Candidates with ACTFL OPI Testing Certification and a willingness to take on a future role as director of the Korean language program are desirable.

The rotating director’s responsibilities include teaching all levels of Korean courses, planning course offerings, and developing and managing innovative curriculum.  The Director will collaborate with the directors of the Chinese and Japanese language programs to review CJK language curriculum on an annual basis. Salary and benefits are competitive.

Transformations in Love, Marriage and Gender Relations in Contemporary South Korea: An Anthropological Perspective

Position for postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Asian and Transcultural Studies, Vilnius University, Lithuania is available.

About the project

The two-year postdoc fellowship project will explore transformations in romantic love, marriage and gender relations in South Korean society. Research will be carried out under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Victor de Munck and in close interaction with other members of his group.

This project will aim to understand the changing conceptions and practices of intimate relations among South Korean youth as they are an integral part of a larger process of societal transformation. The research will use a holistic approach to describe and analyze changes in perceptions of love, marriage, and gender relations in contemporary South Korea through considering the dynamics between cultural, economic and linguistic aspects of South Korean life. The research will also investigate how these changes are influenced by the historically constituted norms and practices of gender relations, as well as contemporary gender images circulating in the media. More materially, the research will take into account economic factors affecting intimate relations and will research how these changes are reflected in linguistic practices.

Budget: Staff cost: full-time work position – 2 152 Eur/per month (all taxes included); 24 months x 2 152 Eur., at all 51 648 Eur. Cost amount for project activities implementation – up to 10 000 Eur.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Social Sciences or Humanities, preferably in the field of Sociocultural Anthropology;
  • Experience in doing fieldwork in South Korea (advantage);
  • English language skills (C1 level and above).

Qualifications: – BCLAD (Korean), Bilingual Authorization and Multiple Subject credential required – Experience teaching in a dual immersion language classroom – Up to a maximum of 10 years credit for each previous experience working as a full time Teacher (Verification required).

(Education Code 262.3, 48853, 48853.5, 49013, 49069.5, 51125.1, 51125.2, 52075; 5 CCR 4622) UCP Timeline The complaint review shall be completed within 60 calendar days from the date of receipt of the complaint unless the complainant agrees in writing to an extension of the timeline. A complaint alleging retaliation or unlawful discrimination (such as discriminatory harassment, intimidation, or bullying) must be filed not later than six months from the date it occurred, or six months from the date the complainant first obtained knowledge of the facts of the alleged unlawful discrimination. The time for filing may be extended for up to 90 days by the Superintendent or designee for good cause upon written request by the complainant setting forth the reasons for the extension. The complainant has a right to appeal the District’s decision to the CDE by filing a written appeal within 15 calendar days of receiving the District’s decision. In any complaint alleging unlawful discrimination (such as discriminatory harassment, intimidation, or bullying), the respondent also shall have the right to file an appeal with the CDE in the same manner as the complainant, if he/she is dissatisfied with the District’s decision.
